The Ponca City Board of Commissioners will meet at 5:30 p.m. today and the bulk of the meeting will deal with the 2015-16 city budget.

A public hearing will be held on the proposed budget as developed over the past several months.

Commissioners held two days of meetings in April to review City Manager Craig Stephenson’s proposed budget. During those meetings each city department met with the commissioners to discuss their achievements, their capital needs for the coming year and their goals for the coming fiscal year.

Members of the public will be allowed to speak on the proposed budget.

Following the public hearing, commissioners will consider and vote on six ordinances which would adjust utility rates for the coming year. The ordinances deal separately with rates for electric service, solid waste and landfill, storm water, wastewater and industrial pretreatment of wastewater, and water.

The public is invited to attend the meeting. There will be a time for citizen comments.

The Ponca City Utility Authority meeting will follow the city commission meeting.
