TULSA, Okla. (AP) – An annual streetscaping competition to beautify downtown Tulsa with colorful plants and flowers is about to get underway.

"Downtown Tulsa Digs Flowers" is a privately funded effort to promote downtown Tulsa during the growing season. Downtown districts or individual businesses may participate. Contestants must register with the Downtown Coordinating Council by May 22.

Competition areas must include flowers or a combination of flowers and other plants. All plant materials must be live. Plants may be in hanging baskets, planters, green-wall systems or in the ground.

Displays will be viewed periodically throughout the summer until the time of final judging in late September, with winners to be announced in October.
