Oklahoma AG Dismisses Lawsuit Against ClassWallet, Blames State Actors for Misspent Funds

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — On Monday, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond dismissed the lawsuit against Florida company ClassWallet that the State of Oklahoma filed against the vendor in January.

In a statement, Drummond said, “I have been clear and consistent in communicating with the Governor on this matter. I will not allow taxpayer funds and State resources to be wasted in pursuit of this meritless lawsuit.”

Drummond dismissed a similar lawsuit against ClassWallet in 2023 and has maintained that state actors, not Classwallet, are responsible for misspent dollars in the Governor’s Education Emergency Relief (GEER) fund.

The release cites an audit by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General (OIG), which found questionable purchases around the GEER funds.

A separate audit from the State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd identified 39,634 items, like video game consoles, home appliances, furniture, and Christmas trees, that were bought instead of being used to help families with education expenses.

Drummond said the lawsuit could leave the state vulnerable to paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in attorney fees.
