3 Arrested for Murder of 12-Year-Old Boy at House Party in Tulsa

KOKH - January 26, 2024 6:23 am

The Tulsa Police Department has arrested three people for the tragic death of 12-year-old Steven Bruner on New Year’s.

Around 10:32 pm, officers responded to a shooting call at a home near 1900 East 14th Street.

Upon arrival, officers found Bruner dead in the entryway.

TPD said the initial investigation revealed that the home had been rented through VRBO earlier that day by an out-of-state individual for a party for their juvenile nephew.

Investigators learned that it was around five to six teens and one adult present at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots while Bruner, who appeared intoxicated, was on the porch, according to TPD.

Police said none of the initial witnesses identified a suspect or provided a description; however, three juveniles later came forward for questioning with their parents.

Through the investigation, TPD said detectives learned a fight between two groups led up to the shooting, and Bruner was not the intended target.

According to TPD, detectives identified three suspects: Alvin Chaplin, Tajon Figures, and Salathiel Fields.

Police said Figures and Fields were taken into custody on January 18, and Chaplin was taken into custody the following day.

All three suspects were arrested for first-degree murder of 12-year-old boy at party house in Tulsa.
