Kaw City resident killed, Ponca City resident injured in collision east of town

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a fatality collision occurred at about 2:02 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection fo East Coleman Road and Enterprise Road, approximately 2 miles east of Ponca City, OK in Kay County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2016 GMC Sierra driven by Curtis Horne (SIC), 31, of Ponca City, OK. Horne was transported by Trooper Beck #700 to AllianceHealth in Ponca City, OK, where he was treated and released with head injuries.

The second vehicle involved was a 2007 Ford Ranger driven by Kurtis Jenkins (SIC), 63, of Kaw City, OK. Jenkins was pronounced deceased at the scene by Ponca City Fire and EMS with head, arm, leg, internal trunk, and external trunk injuries. He was transported by the Medical Examiner to the Medical Examiners office in Oklahoma City, OK.

The Highway Patrol’s report indicates that the circumstances of the collision were still under investigation as of last night. Seatbelts and airbags were equipped in both vehicles, but whether they were in use or deployed is still under investigation. The condition of both drivers and the cause of the collision remain under investigation.
