Drivers warned about slick roads, bridges

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation has warned drivers of icy roads and slick bridges as sleet and snow fall across much of the state.

The department on Monday reported dangerous driving conditions on Interstate 35 and in counties near the Texas border. Officials say work crews have treated slick spots in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas but that snow is mainly blowing across the roadways.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that is expected to last until 6 p.m. Monday. Forecasters predict most locations south of Interstate 40 will get less than two inches of snow. The area from Lawton to Ada could receive up to four inches.

Up to one-half inch of sleet accumulation is possible in southern Oklahoma.
