The town of Newkirk will celebrate their heritage with Charlie Adams Day , sponsored by Newkirk Mainstreet, on Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9. It’s a fun-filled festival for all ages held on the lawn of the Kay County Courthouse and at several businesses in downtown Newkirk.

Two person teams can register for the Cornhole tournament for $50.00 at the event. Check-in is at 6:00 pm. Bags will fly at 7:00 pm. After the tournament a street dance will be held for everyone to enjoy with local band M-Pyre.

On Saturday, barbecue teams will compete for top prizes and provide fantastic food to festival-goers. Purchase a tasting kit and enjoy traditional barbecue like brisket, pork, chicken, potatoes, bologna and beans and then vote for your favorites. Teams will be judged on pork, chicken, brisket and beans.

Dutch oven teams will also provide demonstrations throughout the day. You can learn about what great desserts can be prepared in a Dutch oven and then sample the results.
