Fallin to give State of the State address

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – State legislators from across Oklahoma are arriving at the Capitol for Gov. Mary Fallin’s annual State of the State speech to start the 2015 legislative session.

The Republican governor also will deliver to House and Senate members on Monday her executive budget proposal for how she thinks roughly $7 billion should be divided among various state agencies.

Fallin says her priorities for the upcoming session will be to increase the number of high school and college graduates, address prison overcrowding and improve the state’s health. She’s expected to discuss those issues in detail in her speech, which will start about 12:45 p.m.

To shore up a projected $300 million shortfall in the budget for next year, Fallin has suggested tapping various state agency revolving fund accounts.
