WMS Class Creates Food Trucks

Ponca City Public Schools - January 31, 2023 6:36 am

Students in Stacy Pinney’s teen living class at West Middle School recently had the responsibility of grouping up and creating a food truck. Students had to completely design the truck, name the business, come up with a menu and stock the truck with specific food items, as well as the equipment needed to operate the truck.
“The truck had to offer at least five food items and three different drinks,” said Pinney. “They had to show how their menu lined up with the ‘My Plate’ model for students their age.”
Pinney said the students had the option of choosing whether they covered the daily caloric needs of a teenage boy or girl.
“I truly enjoyed watching these students dive in head-first with this assignment,” said Pinney. “It was fun watching their excitement as they built the trucks, designed their menus to go along with their themes, as well as how they worked together with each other to complete this project.”
