OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The interpretive staff from George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estates and Gardens will be in Oklahoma City later this month to give Oklahomans a glimpse of what life was like at the home of the nation’s first president.

The Oklahoma History Center will host the staff on Jan. 29. Interpreters will give accounts of life at Mount Vernon, including stories of Washington beginning with the French and Indian War and ending with his final hours.

Portrayals will be of Dr. James Craik, Washington’s close friend and personal physician, and Nelly Custis, Washington’s youngest granddaughter.

The Oklahoma History Center is a division of the Oklahoma Historical Society and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
