OKLAHOMA CITY – 

Thirty-six virus-related deaths and 12,187 coronavirus cases have been added to the state’s count since Aug. 4, according to weekly numbers released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

A total of 1,140,485 COVID-19 cases have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.

The state said the provisional death count remained at 16,145 through June 3. However, in accordance with the National Vital Statistics System’s death count reporting upgrade, some death counts may appear lower than previous weeks as the system completes reprocessing. The current provisional count to date is 16,372.

The rolling seven-day average of new cases is 1,338.

Currently, 19,703 Oklahomans are considered active cases in the state, OSDH said.

As of August 3, 6,147,940 total vaccine doses have been administered with 2,863,385 Oklahomans receiving at least one dose. More than 2,307,000 Oklahomans have completed both inoculations or are fully vaccinated, making 58.3% of the eligible Oklahoma population is fully vaccinated.

About 371 Oklahomans are currently in acute care OSDH-licensed facilities with 75 in the ICU and 12 are currently in other types of facilities due to COVID-19. Out of the 371 hospitalizations, 32 are pediatric hospitalizations, OSDH said.
