The next presentation will cover the history of the limestone barn on Lake Road in the 2100 block across front the bowling alley. In the 1920s the site was the location where the limestone was quarried, cut and shaped for the large Marland Estate to be built just to the northwest.
The barn is currently being renovated by owner Russ Didlake. Didlake, a real estate agent and long-time resident of Ponca City, follows a list of other family members sensitive to the history of the area. The program is free to the public and will be given on Saturday, March 26th at 10AM at the Marland Grand Home, 1000 E. Grand Ave. The outline will cover the history of the site, the stone masons, the quarry and the current remodel.
Reservations are required by March 20th to guarantee entrance and a seat.
Call 580-767-0427 to leave your name and a call back phone number in case of any changes.
Masks will not be required, but based on wearer’s discretion.
