Hardin Requests Businesses Postpone Vaccine Mandates

Mike Seals - July 29, 2021 12:18 am

OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Tommy Hardin, R-Madill, today sent a letter to Gov. Kevin Stitt asking him to request businesses suspend mandatory vaccine requirements for their employees until they have discussed the issue with the Legislature and Governor.

In the letter, linked below, Hardin further requested that before or after the upcoming special session to address Congressional redistricting, the Governor ask legislative leadership to conduct joint meetings with legislators and members of the healthcare profession on this issue.

Hardin is working with House staff to draft legislation that would order businesses to assume responsibility for any adverse effects on the employees required to receive mandatory medical procedures that are experimental and not fully approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The full text of the letter can be seen below.

Oklahoma House of Representatives

July 28, 2021

Governor Stitt,

I have heard a lot of concern from my constituents about this vaccine mandate from certain medical facilities. While I feel that these mandates violate a person’s rights, it is clear that it would take years and several lawsuits before the issue could be resolved. Therefore, I respectfully request that you ask all businesses to place COVID-19 vaccine mandates on hold until they have fully discussed the reasons with the legislature and you. I would also request that you ask House and Senate leadership to set up joint meetings to further discuss this issue before or after the upcoming Special Session on Congressional Redistricting. These discussions should include all House and Senate Members with people in the healthcare profession.
