The Po-Hi Student Council recently hosted Wild Week, which is a philanthropy week where the school hosts several fundraisers with the goal to donate money to United Way or a United Way organization. WILD stands for Wildcats Impacting Lives Directly.

Over $300 was raised this year for United Way. Dare jars were placed in the commons during lunch where students and staff could donate money to see different dares carried out by principals and students throughout the school.

Student Council also asked for video submissions from teachers to create a “Masked Singer” teacher edition.

This year the assistant principals all volunteered to dress up in dinosaur costumes, Dr. Hawkins volunteered to be a human sundae, a freshman got a pie to the face, a sophomore drank a blended burrito, a junior took an ice bath while drinking a slushy and a senior waxed his leg. All of the goals for each jar was met.

United Way of Ponca City services 10 different organizations, including American Red Cross, Boy Scouts-Cimarron Council, Child Development Center, Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma, Golden Villa Adult Day Services, New Emergency Resource Agency, Northern Oklahoma Youth Services, Peachtree Landing, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and Survivor Resource Network.

A video of Wild Week can be found online at https://youtu.be/8UHqZDnWjrI.
