The Blackwell Industrial Authority (BIA) is pleased to share that Land Rush Rail has been awarded a $5.34 million federal grant through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) program to support a $7.3 million rail improvement project connecting Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Wellington, Kansas, and the national rail network.
The project will fund critical improvements to rail, crossties, drainage, and signaling infrastructure, enhancing safety, reliability, and efficiency along this important freight connection. Reliable rail service helps local industries manage transportation costs, remain competitive, sustain jobs, and plan for future expansion.
As a joint owner of the rail infrastructure alongside the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), the BIA recognizes the vital role this rail line plays in supporting Blackwell’s industrial base and attracting future business investment.
This award represents a historic milestone for Blackwell and our surrounding region, made possible through collaboration among Land Rush Rail, the BIA, ODOT, and partners across Oklahoma and the State of Kansas.
Investing in infrastructure means investing in our businesses, our workforce, and the future of Blackwell. We congratulate Land Rush Rail on this significant award and look forward to the continued progress this project will bring to our entire region!
