The Heather Cannon Wildcat of the Week #17 for the 2020-2021 School Year was presented this week to PO-HI Senior, Braley Warnecke.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Braley is a compassionate student who always thinks of others before she thinks of herself. According to her teachers and directors, she has a heart of gold and will do anything to help others succeed.

Braley is a very dedicated member of the PO-HI Color Guard and she not only strives for improvement as she performs, but she also mentors the other members of the color guard to help them grow and improve. She has an extensive background in dance and has been taking lessons and competing since she was three years old. Dance is her passion, which makes it so easy for her to be a wonderful mentor to her fellow color guard members.

This mentorship also extends to the Cat Tale Yearbook Staff. Serving as co-editor, Braley goes above and beyond to meet deadlines, support other yearbook staff members as well as the yearbook advisor, Mrs. Paige Smith.

Even though she is very involved, Braley puts a major focus on her academics, participates in concurrent enrollment and maintains an exemplary GPA. Braley works part-time at her family’s business, Green Country Lawn and Pest, even with a busy schedule. Upon graduation, Braley is planning to attend the University of Central Oklahoma with a dual major in Arts Administration with an emphasis in dance AND Forensic Science.”

“Braley, you have diverse interests, which allow you to explore and pursue creativeness and broaden your scope of opportunities. I know you are highly interested in performing arts with a specific emphasis in dance. However, I also know you are an avid hunter and love to spend time outdoors with your family.

Being a hunter AND a dancer is quite a unique combination that truly exhibits how well-rounded you are. The fact that you are pursuing a double major in two very opposite fields only accentuates the unique opportunities life has in store for you. You exemplify so many of the characteristics of the Wildcat Way and these will serve you well throughout your life. Thank you for representing Ponca City Public Schools with such dignity, respect, and pride. We are all so proud of you and we know great things are in your future!”
