A student at Oklahoma State University was struck by an OSU transit bus Tuesday evening near The Strip in Stillwater, according to OSU Police and Stillwater police.
The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. at Washington Street and University Avenue. Stillwater police said the student was in a crosswalk when the bus struck them.
The student was taken to Stillwater Medical Center with minor injuries. No citations were issued, according to Stillwater police.
Video shared by Oklahoma State’s O’Colly on Instagram, recorded by an anonymous YikYak user, appears to show the student walking in the crosswalk before being struck by a bus turning left from University Avenue onto Washington Street.
Langley Aman, a sophomore at OSU, told O’Colly he heard the crash while sitting on the porch of Alpha Gamma Rho.
“So we walked out a little further, and then we saw a guy sitting in the middle of the road right in front of the bus — we’re like ‘shoot, we should probably run over there,’” Aman said. “So, we ran over there, helped him, grabbed all of his papers, and then I didn’t actually see it happen, but we saw a video from Sigma Nu, and he was just walking on the crosswalk; I don’t think the guy saw him.”
OSU said the university is cooperating with local law enforcement as the investigation continues.
Stillwater police are investigating the crash.
