The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $95,000 in youth literacy grants to 21 Oklahoma schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations.
The grants are part of more than $4.1 million awarded nationwide to support literacy programs for K-12 students. Recipients can use the money for professional development or to purchase books, technology, equipment and other educational materials.
Grants aim to expand literacy resources
The Oklahoma grants are expected to benefit more than 9,500 people across the state.
“When students have access to books, technology and educational resources, they gain tools that can support their learning for years to come,” said Denine Torr, executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
The foundation said the grants are intended to help schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations strengthen literacy programs and provide resources to young learners.

2027 grant applications open in January
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation’s 2027 grant cycle will support youth, family, summer and adult literacy programs.
Applications are expected to become available in January 2027. Schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations must be located within 15 miles of a Dollar General store or distribution center to qualify.
