At last Friday nights game, Community Health Foundation of Kay County Executive Director had the honor of joining Newkirk Public Schools Athletic Trainer Lacey McCombs and Superintendent Todd Overstreet at halftime to present a new AED, made possible by funding approved by the Community Health Foundation of Kay County Board of Directors.
This investment is about more than a machine. It includes a carrying case, training pads so students, coaches, and paras can practice in real time, charging cords, and a one-year connection to a platform that records emergencies and provides replacement pads or equipment when needed.
We hope this AED is never needed. But if that moment ever comes, we want Newkirk to be ready. Because on the field, seconds matter. Having lifesaving equipment close by can make all the difference when every second counts.
We’re proud to keep expanding access to AEDs across Kay County and support the athletic trainers, coaches, schools, and students who are there when it matters most.
That’s what investing in our community looks like—putting lifesaving resources where they are needed, before they are ever needed.
