OKLAHOMA CITY –
In the last year, several metro restaurants, bars and breweries have closed their doors– unable to keep up with the cost of business. At the same time, one indigenous owned brewery in Oklahoma City is thriving and even expanding, its owner told News 9 last week.
Skydance Brewing Co. said it’s celebrating its recent expansion. The new space, called “The Eagle’s Nest” is located in Automobile Alley, Keyes shared.
“We’ve always had a great environment. We’ve always been known for putting on great events out here in the patio space, but we’ve been always pretty much a traditional taproom,” said Jacob Keyes, Owner of Skydance Brewing Co. That is, until recently, he added.
“Especially when you look at the way the industry of craft beer has changed, and what’s needed now is more than just beer. You can’t just say ‘we’re local and we make beer’ and people just show up.”
Keyes, along with his team, decided it was time to create the full experience.
“The food, the cocktails, the beer. We got to create all of that in order to get where we need to be.”
Keyes said the new menu is a hit.
“If you don’t drink at all and you just want to come in and have a water and eat, we have great food. I think we have some of the best smash burgers in Oklahoma, but we also offer those Indian tacos and some bison meatballs,” Keyes continued.
He added that Skydance Brewing Co. is a unique place to visit.
“Obviously being Oklahoma’s Native American craft brewery makes us different. We really lean into that– not just as a branding, but as a purpose– and storytelling to be able to share our culture and the representation of being Native American entrepreneurs– being able to share that with people is big for us.”
Skydance Brewing Co. said it will host an Oktoberfest on August 29th, featuring the Flannels, German-style food, and Oktoberfest beers.
