OSAGE COUNTY, Okla. –
A Pawhuska man has been arrested after an investigation into a burglary at the former Oklahoma National Guard Armory in Pawhuska, where investigators recovered a significant amount of stolen property, according to the Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
Burglary investigation began in July
The investigation began July 8 after the Pawhuska Police Department requested assistance from the Osage County Sheriff’s Office following a burglary at the former National Guard Armory.
According to the sheriff’s office, the building currently stores evidence and property belonging to the Pawhuska Police Department. Investigators processed the scene, collected physical evidence and developed leads that identified potential suspects.
Search warrants lead to stolen property
As the investigation continued, investigators obtained search warrants for two residences in Pawhuska.
The sheriff’s office said deputies recovered numerous items reported stolen during the burglary, including:
- A stolen motorcycle.
- Tools and other property belonging to the Pawhuska Police Department.
- Evidence associated with previous criminal investigations.
- Suspected illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia discovered while executing the search warrants.
Investigators allege David Dewayne Cochrane unlawfully entered the armory and stole a motorcycle, tools, mattresses and other property before hiding some of the stolen items at another residence.
Cochrane was arrested in connection with the burglary.
Investigation remains active
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office said investigators have identified additional people believed to be involved in the burglary.
Authorities said more arrests and criminal charges are expected as the investigation continues.
