Shawn David Lawson, 59, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Riverside Cemetery in Ralston, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601

Shawn was born on March 14, 1967, in Artesia, New Mexico, to Jimmy Lawson and Donnis (Krow) Lawson. He made his home in Ponca City, where he spent much of his life working as an automotive mechanic. A talented craftsman, Shawn had an exceptional ability to fix just about anything and was known as a true jack-of-all-trades. His natural artistic ability was evident in his love of drawing cars, and he had a lifelong passion for classic automobiles.

Shawn never met a stranger. He had a warm, outgoing personality that made people feel welcome, and he enjoyed visiting with anyone he met. He was an avid OU football fan and also enjoyed doing MMA. Those who knew Shawn recognized his remarkable talents, strong determination, and stubborn streak, but above all, they knew the immense love he had for his children. They were the greatest joy and pride of his life.

He is survived by his mother, Donnis Lawson-Thomas and her spouse, Lewis; his children, Sarah Lawson, Hannah Lawson, J.D. Lawson, Laiken Lawson, Colt Tucker, and Montana Honeysuckle; and his brother, Cody Nelsen, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy David Lawson, who passed away in October 2007, as well as his grandparents, an aunt, and an uncle.

Though Shawn’s hands could repair almost anything, it was the love he gave to his family and friends that left the greatest mark. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
