Following the successful conclusion of the search for Amanda Rogers, the Kay County Sheriff’s Office and her family extend its deepest gratitude to the community, local law enforcement, and fire personnel. Amanda, who went missing on Wednesday July 22nd, was located safely on Thursday July 23rd in the early morning hours, thanks to a massive, coordinated community effort.
“We are overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of support during this challenging time,” said Sheriff Steve Kelley. “The swift action of our emergency responders and the selflessness of our neighbors helped bring Amanda home safely. We cannot thank everyone enough.”
The Kay County Sheriff’s Office highlights the critical impact of the following groups:
• Local Citizens: Hundreds of community members shared social media alerts, searched local neighborhoods, and provided vital tips and water to keep everyone hydrated due to the extreme heat.
• Police Department: Officers worked around the clock, conducting interviews deploying specialized units, equipment and coordinating the search strategy.
• Fire Department: First responders systematically helped in covering difficult terrain and provided essential search and rescue assets.
We could not have done this without the assistance of the following: Ponca City PD, D.A. task force, OK game Wardens, Tonkawa PD, Newkirk PD, Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Ponca City Fire/EMS, Newkirk Fire/EMS, River Road Fire, Ranch Drive Fire, Braman Fire, Bear Creek Fire, Kaw City Fire, Kildare Fire and McCord Fire.
The Kay County Sheriff’s Office dispatch was overwhelmed with phone calls wanting to know how to help and we just can’t explain how grateful we are with this response.
The Sheriff’s Office and the family respectfully asked to give them time to process what she has gone through and allow the investigators to conduct any follow-up that may be needed in the very near future.
