NOC and Eastern Oklahoma State College both Evacuated After Bomb Threats

Mike Seals - March 1, 2021 3:10 pm

Campuses are closed at two Oklahoma colleges after bomb threats were received by both institutions via email, according to news reports.

All Northern Oklahoma College and Eastern Oklahoma State College campuses were closed on Monday, and employees and students have been told to evacuate immediately due to what officials are calling an “emergency situation.”

The campuses for NOC are located in Tonkawa, Enid and Stillwater. Employees and students are being told to evacuate immediately and leave campus grounds, according to a post on the schools’ Facebook page at about 12:15 p.m.

According to Enid police, the college received a non-specific bomb threat which they then reported to police. Officers went out to the campus and cleared the scene. There was no device found and no threat, police said.

Officials said in the post that no one will be allowed to enter the campuses.

The following was posted on NOC’s Facebook page at 12:15 p.m.:

SAFETY ALERT: Monday, March 1, 2021. There is an emergency situation at Northern Oklahoma College. All NOC campuses are closed and employees and students need to evacuate immediately, and leave campus grounds. No one will be allowed to enter.

UPDATE: Northern Oklahoma College has been alerted to an emergency situation. Faculty, staff, students and visitors are being evacuated because of a potential threat.

Law enforcement, emergency responders, fire and rescue officers are on campus.

NOC will provide more information as it becomes available via Rave Alert, website, email, social media, or phone message.

Updates will be available at www.noc.edu/emergency or by calling 580.628.6677.

NOTE: As of publication of this, no updates have yet been posted on either the NOC Facebook page, or the Emergency Page.

Additionally, law enforcement is investigating a possible threat at Eastern Oklahoma State College.

Eastern Oklahoma State College has confirmed that the college received an email with a threat.

Officials said the “email was not campus specific, so they decided to enact their emergency protocols at all sites and evacuate all the locations.” Eastern’s main campus is in Wilburton, OK. Eastern has a branch campus in McAlester and also offers classes in Antlers and at Southeastern’s McCurtain County Branch campus in Idabel.

College officials said “All EOSC classes at all locations are canceled for Monday, March 1. Employees are dismissed for the day. Do not go to campus until further notice.”

College officials said “All of the campus police locations are working with state local law enforcement at this time.”

This is a developing story.
