Water Supply in Tonkawa at Critical Levels

Mike Seals - February 21, 2021 9:19 pm

The City of Tonkawa water supply has reached a Critical Level.

City officials are asking all residents to only use water services for emergencies. Please refrain from running dishwashers, laundry machines, bathtubs, showers, flushing, etc.

The Water Department has advised that there are several main and line breaks in the  city’s water system which is not allowing levels to catch up.

They are attempting to locate the breaks. Quite simply, the system is losing more water than it is gaining. The Water Department is requesting for all residents to help.

The city is asking that everyone survey their property and look for flooded portions in yards, crawl spaces, basements, etc.; anything that resembles a line break.

Look at water pressure. Most residents should have low water pressure right now. However, if water trickles out or fails to come out at all, the city needs to be notified.

The Water Department can be dispatched to look at your meter and survey the area to locate any breaks.

The Water Department has a large area to cover to locate the break(s). The melting snow and ice will only make it more difficult to see.

Please assist in their efforts to survey your property and advise of your water pressure.

If you suspect a leak or break due to signs on your property or no water or no water pressure at all, contact the Tonkawa Police Department at: (580) 628-2516 and Tonkawa PD can dispatch the Water Department and look at your area.

If lines are busy, please keep trying. We ask that you DO NOT call 911 to report these issues. With everyone’s help, we can locate the breaks and regain adequate water levels.
