OKLAHOMA –Filming has officially wrapped in Oklahoma on the upcoming horror-fantasy feature Hansel & Gretel’s Halloween, with horror entertainment outlet Dread Central debuting a first-look preview of the dark, modernized twist on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale.

Directed by Marcus Mallard and Logan Walcher, the film follows six teenagers who enter a candy-coated labyrinth on Halloween night. Once inside, they find themselves trapped in the legendary domain of a deadly witch, where temptations manifest as lethal traps and survival depends entirely on resisting the sweetest lures.

“The vision for this film was to inject new life into the legend of Hansel and Gretel and make it into something authentically scary,” explained Walcher, who also served as the film’s cinematographer and editor. “It’s like Goosebumps cranked up to 11. The stakes are high, and the deaths are deeply unsettling. The haunted house makes you question reality at every twist and turn. Marcus and I set out to make a movie your parents don’t want you to watch.”

The screenplay was penned by Chris Hoyt, whose previous family-adventure and fantasy credits include The Adventures of Jurassic PetDinosaur World, and The 7 Dwarves. Hoyt also produced the feature alongside Mallard, Walcher, and Leah Heitzke-Mallard, who served as the film’s production designer. Behind-the-scenes creatives also include the musical act Bitter Machine, who composed the score.

The ensemble cast features Christy Tate (Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras) pulling double duty as Amelia and the Witch. Griffin Edge and Alexia Berry star as the titular siblings, Hansel and Gretel. The film also features Aubree Payne as Madison, Nehemiah Auzer as Jacob, Madison Sein as Taylor, Tate Skelton as Michael, Amanda Stump as Jacob’s mother, and Caroline Kelly as Allison Cooper.

Global distribution and international sales are being spearheaded by genre specialist Devilworks, helmed by Samantha Richardson and Matteo Rolleri, both of whom also serve as executive producers on the project.

“As both producers and distributors, we wanted to create a project that blends classic storytelling with a distinctive visual and tonal identity,” Richardson said.

“We took a story everyone thinks they know and gave it a wicked twist,” Rolleri added. “Hansel & Gretel’s Halloween is clever, bolder and a lot more fun than you’d expect.”

The production is the latest independent feature to utilize Oklahoma’s growing film infrastructure and diverse locations. A release date has not yet been announced.
