OKLAHOMA CITY –
A new state law will make it easier for Oklahomans to purchase and use fireworks at any time of the year.
Signed into law by Gov. Kevin Stitt on May 29, the Rocket’s Red Glare Act, a nod to the United States’ national anthem, will allow fireworks to be sold year-round instead of only for Independence Day and New Year’s.
Additionally, the law allows residents on private property to set off fireworks, as long as they give prior notice to firefighting agencies and if there is not an active county burn ban.
The new law also allows bottle rockets to be sold in the state for the first time since 1981.
