Shortly after 1:30 this morning, PCPD Officers responded to the 500 Block of North Sunset where someone was reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim, later identified as 42-year-old Demetrius Miller, who was later pronounced deceased at Integris Ponca City.
Multiple Officers and PCPD Detectives arrived at the crime scene and spent the last several hours reviewing area camera footage, crime scene evidence and suspect information.
Shortly before 9:00 this morning, the Osage Country Sheriff’s Office notified us that they located our suspect in Osage County at a residence in McCord. As a result, 18-year-old Zavion Jareil Gates has been arrested and will be charged for the murder of Demetrius Miller.
We’d like to thank the Kay County Sheriff’s Office, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office and the 8th District Attorney’s Task Force for their assistance this morning. This is still an active investigation and we will update the public as necessary information becomes available.
