Danny Forrest Angel, 78, of Ponca City, OK, left this life May 24, 2026, in Winfield, KS. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Newkirk Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Danny was born on September 6, 1947, in Bakersfield, CA, to Rex Forrest and Thelma Louise (Pappan) Angel. Danny was raised by his paternal grandparents in Joplin, MO .He graduated from Joplin High School, Joplin, MO, in 1966. While in school, he was a member of the track team, played baseball, and sang in the choir. He joined the US Air Force, and served two tours in Vietnam. He later worked as a firefighter in Joplin in the 70's. He then went to work as a Jet Engine Mechanic, retiring from the Department of Defense in 2019.
Danny coached many sporting teams for his children, and was very supportive of them. He was proud of his Native heritage and enjoyed making knives, walking sticks, and working with leather and beads. He was a member of a muzzle loading and black powder group, attending many rendezvous and bi-yearly events with them.
Danny is survived by: his children, Jody Angel of Ponca City, OK, Heather Rausa and her husband, Wes, of Joplin, MO; grandchildren, Ashley Angel and Jeremy Angel and siblings, Bonnie Arand, Terri Weatherly, and Dana Davis; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by: his parents, siblings, Michael Angel, Johnny Pappan and Janice Newlin.
