Ponca City Public Schools to Honor Special Olympians with Community Send-Off for Oklahoma Summer Games

Ponca City Public Schools will host a community send-off for its 64 Special Olympics athletes on Wednesday, May 13, as they depart for the Oklahoma Summer Games.
Students, staff, families, businesses, clubs, and community members are encouraged to line the bus route and show their support for the athletes as they head to compete and represent Ponca City with pride. Community members are invited to wave signs, cheer, and celebrate the hard work and dedication of these outstanding athletes.
“This send-off is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and encourage our athletes before they compete on the state level,” said Assistant Coach Heather Monks. “Their determination, sportsmanship, and spirit make Ponca City proud.”

The bus will begin at the high school tennis courts and travel north along 7th Street and then continue on the attached route beginning at 8:30 AM. Supporters are encouraged to gather outside schools, businesses, and public areas along the route to help create an unforgettable experience for the athletes.
