Laurzell Darlene Holmes
October 29, 1938 - April 13, 2026
Laurzell was born October 29, 1938, in Ponca City to Earl and Ellen (Snyder) Murray. She had a passion for quilting and sewing where she created beautiful, meaningful pieces that will be treasured for generations. She was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church, and found deep joy in worship and the sense of community it brought to her life. In her earlier years, she loved spending time on the water, whether skiing or boating, creating cherished memories alongside her husband, Don. Together, they also shared a love for traveling and exploring new places. Laurzell cherished her family’s history connected to the 101 Ranch, where her grandmother, Zelda Carson, was a trick-rider and her grandfather, Bailey Carson, who also worked as a rancher for the 101. She took great pride in learning about the 101 Ranch and its history as a member of the Old Timers Association.
She was united in marriage to Jube Bennett in 1956, until his passing in 1961. She later married Don Holmes on March 9, 1963, and they remained together until his passing in 1997.
Laurzell is survived by: her daughters, LeEllen Bennett-Erdmann and husband, Paul, of Ponca City, Terri Holmes-Biddinger and husband, Andy, of Ponca City, and Laura Holmes-Sheik and husband, Jerry, of Ponca City; her brother, John Botts and wife, Debbie, of Ponca City; her grandchildren, Zach Gales, Nathan Gales, Kaycee Gales, Matt Biddinger and wife, Jen, Brett Biddinger and wife, Sasha, Madison Goodno and husband, Dustin, Joshua Sheik and wife, Elaine, and Chelsea Owens and husband, Travis; and great-grandchildren, Merrick Gales, Macie Molına, Emmerson Biddinger, Ellington Biddinger, Kenlee Biddinger, Andi Biddinger, Bretley Biddinger, Thomas Biddinger, Aiden Sheik, Kieran Sheik, and Coraline Owens.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Earl and Ellen Murray; her brother, James Murray; and her husbands, Jube Bennett, and Don Holmes. Laurzell will be remembered for her love of family, especially her three daughters, LeEllen, Terri, and Laura.
