SAYRE, Okla. –
Oklahoma Senate candidate Barry Christian, 54, was found dead after being reported missing, Christian’s family.
The family said Christian’s body was found on Thursday.

When was Barry Christian reported missing
Authorities said Christian was reported missing after not showing up at a meeting on Wednesday.
Christian was last seen on Tuesday in Sayre, according to authorities.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations said Christian’s car was found on the side of the road South of Erick, Oklahoma, on Thursday afternoon.
What Senate seat was Christian running for?
Christian was running as a Republican in the race for Oklahoma Senate District 38.
District 38 comprises several communities in western Oklahoma, including: Altus, Mangum, Hobart, Elk City, Hollis, Sayre, Fredrick, Davidson, Grandfield, and Gotebo.
Family members remember Christian
In a statement, Christian’s daughter, Brooklyn, said
“Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is upside down right now. We are still not sure of everything that happened, so please act with grace and treat my dad’s legacy with dignity. We’re extremely grateful for everyone who assisted in the search efforts, and all of the media outlets that shared his information. I know there will be lots of people devastated by his passing.”
Christian’s youngest daughter told News 9 that he “wanted nothing more than to provide and protect his family. He lived only for his kids. He loved his kid with everything in him.”

Investigation ongoing
The circumstances surrounding Christians death are not known at this time, but an investigation is ongoing.
Authorities ask anyone with information that may be relevant to this investigation to contact the Sayre Police Department at 580-928-2122.
