Alberta Louise Girardi

Alberta Louise Girardi, age 87, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2026, at Bradbury Commons. Memorial Services will be announced. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colorado, at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Alberta was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, on May 23, 1938, to Albert and Louise Leach. At age 18, she moved to Colorado, where she built a life and a distinguished career. On January 4, 1958, she married her lifelong partner, Louis "Louie" Girardi, in Sterling, Colorado. They shared sixty beautiful years of marriage. In 2018, following her husband's sudden illness, Alberta returned to her birth state of Oklahoma, to be closer to her family, providing support and love during a difficult time, until Louis's passing later that year.
A woman of sharp intellect and leadership, Alberta served as the Head Legal Secretary for the Colorado State Public Defender's Office. She was a vital asset to the department traveling throughout the state to hire, train, and provide essential legal support. She was a vibrant part of her community as a dedicated member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, where she participated in Circle activities. She also gave her time as a polling place volunteer and a regular helper at the Sterling library book sales. Alberta's hands were rarely still; she was a gifted knitter who created cherished blankets for family and friends, an avid reader, and a passionate gardener. Her home was filled with the love of her faithful canine companions, Chewi and Ruby.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Louis. Her legacy lives on through her children: her son, Louis "Mark" Girardi (and wife Brenda Lee) of Ponca City, and her daughter, Tina Corelli of Greeley, Colorado. She was the proud grandmother of Louis Benedict Girardi, Katie Girardi, Elizabeth Conour, and Jessica Conour; and the great-grandmother of Peyton Wray and Louis "Gavin" Girardi.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Alberta's honor, to the Logan County Humane Society, 2250 Leisure Ln, Sterling, CO 80751.
