Joann Marie Cartwright

Joann Marie Cartwright passed peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Hillcrest Manor at Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Joann Marie Williamson was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, on July 19, 1935, to Charles Warren and Edna Marie (Mickey) Williamson. She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1953 and went to work for First National Bank. She married Leslie Cartwright on February 12, 1954. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage until Leslie passed away on April 14, 2021. Joann worked as a teller and later as a vice president at the bank for 38 years until 1991. She and Les took over for her father to manage Bowlarena Lanes in 1983. In her later years, bowling was Joann’s favorite activity, and she participated in two bowling leagues through age 91.
Joann was baptized in the First Christian Church on Easter of 1956. She served as a volunteer for many church social events. She was her Sunday school class treasurer and the accountant for the church’s annual Kay County Fair fundraiser. Joann loved watching her sons play sports, and she was always around the summer baseball fields running concession stands. She was a proud Blackwell Maroon and always attended homecoming festivities.
Preceding her in death were her father Charles, her mother Marie, her stepmother Louise (Kucera) Williamson, her brother Fred, and her husband Les. Survivors include two sons: Greg (wife Kay) and Scott (wife Tracy) of Lake Ozark, MO ; six grandchildren: Todd (wife Tracy), Robert (wife Erin) , Christa (husband Mike Sterkenberg), Chad, Chase, and Elizabeth; six great-grandchildren: Makenna, Haley, Brecken, Shane, Alyssa, and Aria; and many nieces and nephews.
Joann is going to be cremated, and a memorial service will take place Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Blackwell, with a dinner to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been created to commemorate her legacy. Contributions may be sent to Celebrate Recovery Blackwell in care of the First Christian Church, 306 East Coolidge Ave., Blackwell, OK 74631
