WYNNEWOOD, Okla. (KOKH) — Officials with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics says it seized thousands of marijuana plants and found evidence of harmful pesticides on the products.
On Tuesday, OBN’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant at Huang Zhewei 5858 LLC in Wynnewood as part of an ongoing investigation into trafficking marijuana on the black market.
In all, agents seized nearly 9,000 marijuana plants and discovered illegal pesticides on the plants.
“Our Agents seized 8,897 plants, and found evidence the operators of this business were using illegal pesticides on the plants,” said OBN PIO Mark Woodward. “Since the formation of our MET Units in 2021, we have uncovered numerous instances of criminal organizations side-stepping Oklahoma marijuana health and safety regulations, including the application of extremely dangerous chemicals to their marijuana plants. Even black-market marijuana could end up being re-sold to dispensaries or directly to patients putting their safety at risk.”
Oklahoma Department of Agriculture agents wrote a separate search warrant to seize the illegal pesticides.
