Local charity gives fall some color with Mums sale

Ponca City Now - September 22, 2014 7:48 am

Tomorrow is the first official day of fall, which means the flowers will fade and the trees will change. However, the Charity Angels Ambucs are keeping some color in Ponca City with its mums sale. Brook Lindsay, Charity Angels Ambucs fundraiser chair said mums are a hardy flower that require fall weather.

"They should last a couple months," Lindsay said. "I know I have planted them before and they come back year after year.

Each pot is about 22 inches tall and 24 inches wide. The bronze color is sold out, but yellow and red are still available. If you pre-order they’re $18 or you can purchase them at Oktoberfest for $20. The shipment is expected to be in Ponca City on Oct. 3 , and they will email everyone who pre-ordered what time. The pick-up will be in the evening at the Pioneer Woman.

Lindsay said all the proceeds benefit the mission of Charity Angels Ambucs.

"Our mission is to support and provide mobility and independence to people with disabilities," Lindsay said. "One of our biggest areas that we do that is with our AmTrykes, which are our specialty trykes for people with disabilities."

You can pre-order until Wednesday by contacting a Charity Angel Ambuc or emailing [email protected].

This is the first year they’ve done this, but it’s been so successful they expect to do it again in the coming years.
