Hofmeister on additional COVID-19 school relief funding

OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 21, 2020) – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister made the following statement after Congressional leaders announced they will vote today on another COVID-19 relief package, which includes funding for education:

“As schools wrap up their first full semester operating in a pandemic, Oklahoma educators are preparing for another semester of teaching, learning and keeping our school community safe and healthy,” said Hofmeister.

“Another round of desperately needed education relief funds will help offset the effects of the pandemic and allow our schools and districts to focus on supporting their students. These funds – which are significantly more than K-12 education received under the CARES Act – are the emergency boost schools need to implement intensive student supports to recover lost ground.”
