The City of Ponca City was informed on Thursday, March 19, 2026 that Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad crews will be closing four Ponca City railroad crossings for a rail replacement project beginning March 24, 2026. The four crossings to be closed are Prospect Avenue, Brookfield Avenue, Albany Avenue and Broadway Avenue.
Work will begin at the Prospect Avenue crossing on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 and is expected to take two days to complete. Traffic will be detoured down Union Street and Fifth Street during the closure.
The three remaining crossings at Brookfield Avenue, Albany Avenue and Broadway Avenue will all be closed at the same time beginning Wednesday, March 25, 2026 and closure time for these crossings is estimated to be one week for the entire group.
Traffic at these crossings will be detoured to the nearest available open crossing for the duration of the work.
