Human remains were found recently at the construction site of OU’s future Life Sciences Laboratories Building on the Norman campus.

According to the university, work was immediately stopped and law enforcement was notified along with the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

All required procedures and state burial protection laws are being followed, the university said.

Based on preliminary evaluation, there is nothing to suggest criminal activity. Early indications suggest the remains date to the early 1900s, the university reports.

The investigation is still in the early stages.
