OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The number of people hospitalized in Oklahoma with the coronavirus has surpassed 1,500 and the number of reported cases is up by 3,663. The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Saturday reported 1,505 hospitalizations, topping the previous one-day high of 1,434 on Wednesday.

There have been a total of 170,924 reported cases in the state since the start of the pandemic and the department reports that 1,624 people in Oklahoma have died due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus.

The true number of infections is likely higher because many people haven’t been tested, and studies indicate that people can be infected and not feel sick while still spreading the virus.
