PCPS COVID-19 Update

Mike Seals - November 15, 2020 10:35 pm

The Ponca City Public School System has issued the following statement:

The November 12th Kay County COVID-19 Alert System Risk Level was released, and the 7-day average number of new COVID-19 cases, per capita of 100,000, reflected an increase from last week.

Kay County moved from Level Orange 2 Moderate Risk + to Level Red High Risk with an increase from 27.9 to 68.6.

The increase in Kay County cases certainly made an impact on PO-HI; the Po-Hi students are already on Distance Learning. However, In-person Instruction will continue the week of November 16-20 at all sites, with the exception of PO-HI which is already on Distance Learning.

No other site in the district has experienced a surge of cases.

The superintendent will release the weekly COVID data in addition to the site percentages affected.

To keep our kids in school, we need our community to wear a face covering, watch distancing (stay 6’ apart at all times), wash hands frequently, and stay in isolation and quarantined if imposed by the Kay County Health Department. Sites will continue with in-person instruction as long as cases are isolated.

We must slow the spread!
