WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump will officially launch TrumpRX on Thursday evening, unveiling the new website offering prescription drugs direct-to-consumer for lower costs.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the announcement set for 7 p.m. EST, describing TrumpRX.gov as a “state-of-the-art website for American consumers to purchase low-cost prescription drugs.”
“This historic announcement will save millions of Americans money,” Leavitt said.
Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Dr. Mehmet Oz and National Design Studio Director Joe Gebbia will join Trump for the announcement.
The administration announced plans to launch TrumpRx in September to offer Americans the chance to purchase drugs at Most Favored Nation (MFN) pricing. The website is expected to facilitate Americans’ purchase of prescription medication from administration-approved companies.
TrumpRX will offer medications manufactured by drugmakers who made MFN deals with the administration, including Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, AstraZeneca, Merck & Co. and Novartis. Other companies include Amgen, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, Genentech, Gilead Sciences, GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi.
In November, Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk agreed that they would allow some of their obesity drugs, like Wegovy and Zepbound, to be sold to Americans as low as $150 for a month’s supply.
EMD Serono also announced a deal with the administration to lower fertility drug costs in October.
Before securing deals, the companies faced tariffs imposed by Trump and received “grace periods” from the administration once they agreed.
Officials have indicated TrumpRX will not accept health insurance, as it looks bypass the companies altogether. Patients will be required to pay for prescriptions with cash.
The administration has also negotiated lower prices for several prescription drugs for Medicare enrollees through a direct negotiation program.
