(TNND) — Iran taunted and threatened President Donald Trump on Wednesday by broadcasting a photo of the American president during his attempted assassination at a 2024 rally in Pennsylvania with the words, “This time it will not miss the target.”
Photos of the menacing translated message circulated online from multiple media reports and aired on Iranian state-run TV.
It follows Trump’s repeated threats that the U.S. will strike Iran if it continues to violently kill people protesting the worsening economic crisis and widespread dissatisfaction with the government.
If Iran “kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post earlier this month.
Trump was shot in the ear by gunman, Thomas Crooks, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Personnel at a key military base in Qatar were advised to evacuate on Wednesday as a precautionary measure, as protests continue to rage in Iran and the death toll rises.
Qatar responded to the move, stating that such measures were being “undertaken in response to the current regional tensions.”
“The IMO reaffirms that the State of Qatar continues to implement all necessary measures to safeguard the security and safety of its citizens and residents as a top priority, including actions related to the protection of critical infrastructure and military facilities,” Qatar’s International Media Office said on X.
Trump has been encouraging unrest in Iran and recently said, “HELP IS ON ITS WAY,” as the death toll reportedly surpassed 2,000.
Other steps Trump has taken against Iran include cancelling all meetings with Iranian officials, vowing to intervene if more demonstrators were killed, and threatening a 25% tariff on countries that do business with Iran.
