Peachtree Landing, Kay County’s only homeless shelter, for the first time this past weekend as temperatures dipped.
Peachtree Landing had planned to open to single men in November, but safety must come first.
The shelter must complete several essential safety and building upgrades that hover at an estimated $40,000 to strengthen security, improve living conditions, and prepare the facility to house single men year-round.
The shelter is pursuing multiple grants but grant funds can take months to arrive.
Peachtree Landing is seeking partners — local businesses, civic groups, churches, and individual donors — who want to help close this long-standing gap in Kay County’s safety net.
