It’s been an incredible few weeks visiting with folks across House District 33. I’ve loved every opportunity to meet with families, teachers and business owners to hear what matters most to you.
I’ll continue those conversations this week with another town hall meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9, where I’ll be joined by Rep. Jim Shaw and Sen. Randy Grellner. We hope you’ll come out, ask questions, and share your thoughts as we work together to protect our Oklahoma values.
Recently, an article has been circulating about a display at the Guthrie Public Library that deeply concerns me and many parents in our community.
The article describes a podium of about 30 books placed near the entrance under a sign labeled “tough topics.” Among the titles listed are Queer and Trans Identities, The Big Book of Sex Consent, Beyond the Gender Binary and Boys and Sex, some of which appear to be directed at children.
There is no excuse for this kind of display. This kind of material has no place in front of our children.
Public libraries should be places where parents feel confident their children can explore and learn safely, not where they’re exposed to adult or inappropriate material under the guise of education.
The Legislature must take a closer look at how libraries are using state funds to ensure taxpayer dollars are not supporting materials or programs that target children with transgender propaganda.
Families deserve better, and our communities have a right to speak up when something doesn’t reflect our shared standards.
I’ll always stand with parents and families who want to protect their children and preserve the values that make our towns strong. I’m grateful to live in a community that cares enough to speak out.
Thank you for letting me represent you at the Capitol!
