Several hundred Paycom positions in Oklahoma City have been eliminated, according to the human resources and payroll company.

What to know:

  1. Over 500 positions affected
  2. Positions to be replaced by artificial intelligence
  3. Company to continue hiring in open positions

In a notice obtained from Paycom by Griffin Media, the company has cut over 500 positions as part of a company restructuring plan to replace back-end jobs with artificial intelligence.

Why is Paycom eliminating positions?

Paycom says the restructuring is “due to efficiencies in advanced automation and AI-driven technologies.”

A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN notice, was filed and affected employees were notified on Wednesday morning.

Paycom says the layoffs will only impact non-client-facing, back-office roles.

Is Paycom still hiring for other jobs?

Existing client-facing roles are unaffected; the company says it is continuing to hire open positions in these areas.

Paycom says it will offer transition assistance to affected employees, including severance packages, outplacement services and access to internal job opportunities. The company says it remains strong financially.
