Fall is a special season in Oklahoma, and I am excited to invite everyone to the 37th Annual Festival in the Park in Cushing on Saturday, Sept. 27. This event, hosted by the Cushing Chamber of Commerce, is one of the best ways our community comes together to celebrate the season.
The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in beautiful Memorial Park at 5th Street and Little Avenue. Families can enjoy rides and attractions, shop at a wide variety of vendor booths, watch a roaming magician and see the work of local artists. There will also be plenty of homemade food prepared by nonprofit groups raising funds for their causes. It is truly a day filled with fun, food and fellowship.
One of the highlights is always the Annual Chili Cook-Off, and this year is shaping up to be the best yet.
Senator Randy Grellner and I will have a booth at the cook-off, and I hope you will stop by to say hello. The competition will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the south end of the festival layout in Memorial Park.
Taster kits will be sold to the public, and everyone can cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. In addition, a secret judge’s panel will select their favorite entries. Cash prizes will also be awarded for the best-decorated booths.
I also want to share that Senator Grellner, Representative Jim Shaw and I will be hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Vassar Community Center, 750 N. Main St. in Perkins. This will be an opportunity to hear updates on state issues and to discuss the matters that are most important to you.
I continue to enjoy the conversations I am having with constituents and the great people of District 33. Your ideas and input guide me as I serve you at the Capitol, and I look forward to visiting with you at these upcoming events.
