Entries Wanted for Oklahoma Book Awards

Mike Seals - June 10, 2020 12:03 am

The Oklahoma Center for the Book in the Department of Libraries is now accepting entries in the 32nd Annual Oklahoma Book Awards competition!

To be eligible, books must have been published between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2020. Books must have an Oklahoma-based theme, or entrants (author, illustrator, photographer or book designer) must live or have lived in Oklahoma.

Entries must be received by January 8, 2021; but don’t delay! Entries are distributed to the judges as they arrive.

Medalists in five categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children/young adult, and design/illustration will be announced at the Oklahoma Book Award ceremony in April 2021. We’ll also honor Oklahoma author Hannibal Johnson with the 2021 Arrell Gibson Award for Lifetime Achievement at the ceremony. Our sponsorship partners for the event will once again be the Friends of the Oklahoma Center for the Book. (We couldn’t do it without them!)

Note: Download and save the PDF Entry Form to your computer. Open the PDF from the saved location on your computer to fill out. Your information may not be saved if filled out directly in the browser window.

Did you miss our announcement of the 2020 Oklahoma Book Award winners? If so, scroll down the Book Awards page and check out the 2020 medalists! You’ll also find links to the finalists in each category.

Due to the public health crisis, we could not hold our traditional Book Awards dinner and ceremony, so we asked the 2020 winners to share a video or photo/message with us. We shared their responses on social media, but we’ve also gathered their messages on flikr so you can check their reactions in one place!

It was a tough year for our 2020 honorees. We hope you can support many of the great medalists and finalists from our 31st annual competition!
