Ponca City resident injured in Pawnee County collision

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred at about 9:06 a.m. Sunday on State Highway 18, about 0.4 miles south of East 390 Road, which is about 8 miles north of Pawnee, OK in Pawnee County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2003 GMC Envoy driven by a Ponca City resident whose name has been withheld pending next of kin notification. The driver was transported by AirEvac to St. John’s in Tulsa, where they were admitted in serious condition with head, arm, trunk internal, and trunk external injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated that the vehicle was southbound on State Highway 18. The vehicle departed roadway to the left for an unknown reason, and traveled down the east ditch, rolling two full times before coming to rest on its wheels. The driver was ejected an unknown distance. Seatbelts were equipped in the vehicle, but not in use. Airbags were equpped, but did not delpoy. The report indicates that the driver’s condition was impaired and attributes the cause of the collision to illegal drugs.
