The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is launching its first-ever Snowplow Naming Contest, inviting students from kindergarten through 12th grade across the state to participate.

The contest, which begins on August 11, offers students the opportunity to name 24 snowplows in ODOT’s winter fleet.

Participants stand a chance to win prize packages, and the winning names will be displayed on the snowplows.

ODOT says while temperatures are still high, Oklahoma transportation officials are already preparing for snow season—an effort that costs the state millions of dollars each year and requires extensive coordination.
